After returning to dancing as an adult after 22 years, Annette and Anri, with their passion for dancing, revived my love for dance! “

About us

We teach the art of dance, Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Spanish and other styles, with professionalism, with love and with care to all ages, from toddlers to adults.

With professionalism

We have the training, experience and skills to do our job well and are Registered Teachers of:

• The Royal Academy of Dance, one of the world’s most influential dance education organisations.
• The Spanish Dance Society, the world’s largest society for the advancement of Spanish dance in all its forms. &
• ADC, the alternative Modern- and Hip Hop dance education organisation.

We are committed to a process of Continued Professional Development of updating and improving our knowledge and skills.

We can be the best but without love we are nothing and it would profit us nothing.If, however, we are fulfilling the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbour as yourself,” we are doing well. Therefore we treat our students the same way we want them to treat us.

With care

We make every effort to teach dance correctly, safely, without causing emotional and physical damage to our students. We believe every student must have an equal opportunity to use their God given talents to such an extent that it enables them to reach their full potential and to become the best dancer that they can be.

ABOUT ANNETTE

• Co-founder & Principal Dancer with the C’mist Performing Arts Group

I was born on a farm just outside of Morgenzon, in Mpumalanga. My parents never doubted what career I would follow. They always said that before I could even walk I was the happiest when music was playing and I was moving my body on the rhythm thereof. But when I started riding wild horses my mother said it is time to start with Ballet classes.

My teaching career started at the age of 16 teaching Ballet at the Art School in Ermelo. A few years later I taught Spanish for Jose and Elaine Montoya, under PACT in Pretoria.

Looking back I am extremely grateful for many wonderful privileges and highlights.

• Firstly for my daughter Anri, not only following in my footsteps but being my partner.
• For every student impacted and trained.
• Every parent I met over the years.
• Dancing for the Jose Montoya Spanish Dance Company.
• Performing on many national and international platforms in South Africa, Brazil, India, Israel, Jordan, Mauritius and Turkey.

If I could turn the clock back I would have made the same choices.

My love for dancing started when I was “’keeping rhythm ’’ inside my mom’s belly. She taught till the final countdown that every dancer knows 5, 6, 7, 8….., and then it was almost too late. LOL.

I grew up in my mom’s dance studio and wanted to follow in her footsteps. Looking back I am extremely grateful for many wonderful privileges and highlights.

• Firstly having my mom, Annette Erasmus, as my first ballet teacher.
• For every student impacted and trained.
• Instructed and trained by many acclaimed teachers, choreographers and examiners.
• Performing at Super Skouspel with famous artists and movie stars.
• Perform and choreograph on many national and international platforms in South Africa, Argentina, Armenia, Brazil, India, Israel and Mauritius.

Today being in my “happy place” I know I made the right choice to follow in my mom’s footsteps.

RAD Ballet

Annette, Anri and Stephanie teach Ballet following the curriculum of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)

The RAD is one of the world’s most influential dance education organisations. Their exams set standards in classical ballet worldwide and are a global leader in dance education and Continuing Professional Development for dance.

Around the world, RAD exams are recognised for their quality, and each year, nearly a quarter of a million candidates across the globe choose to take their dance exams with the RAD.

The RAD offers a wide range of exams and assessments to motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities. Our focus is on creativity and musicality, providing opportunities to progress and achieve. It’s not just professional or young dancers who take the exams; age is no barrier to success. At any stage of your life or career you can develop your fitness, musicality and artistry. Our candidates range in age from 2 to 60+!

“Ballet has been an important part of my life since I was 6 years old, with regular classes, exams, a competition here and there, holiday courses and the big highlights – dancing on stage.

Of course, every girl who learns ballet dreams of becoming a prima ballerina, the pinnacle of beauty and grace, but my journey with ballet led me to something which I think is more important, thanks to its impact on young dancers and to the fulfilment it brings me - teaching.

Guided by my desire to nurture and uplift children, to bring out the best in them, teaching has become a joy for me and I feel privileged for witnessing each individual’s growth in ballet… and within themselves.”

ADC Modern & Hip-Hop

Annette and Anri teach Modern and Hip Hop Dance following the syllabus of ADC Dance Company, an alternative Modern and Hip Hop dance education organisation.

The syllabi have been choreographed and developed by a team of qualified and registered Ballet, Modern and Hip Hop examiners. The team members have years of teaching, examining and dance experience, both locally and internationally. ADC regularly consults with two external specialists regarding the Syllabi. The one a Hip Hop specialist and the other a Sports Aerobic & Modern Dance specialist holding a Doctorate in Dance.

“Lyla started ballet at A&A School of Dance at the age of 4. She has now been at the school for eight years and she sees Annette and Anri as part of her family. The annual show in Atterbury Theatre is a highlight of the year. She looks forward to every ballet class. She has also started Spanish classes now and she really enjoys the classes.”

ISDS Spanish

Annette and Anri teach Spanish Dance and follow the syllabus of the Spanish Dance Society. The Spanish Dance Society is the world's largest society for the advancement of Spanish dance in all its forms. Their technique is broken down into castanet playing, steps, footwork, arm movements and various different types of turns. This is taught progressively in a series of seven graded junior, and three senior levels, each with an examination culminating in the presentation of dances in regional, classical, neo-classical (Danza Estilizada) or flamenco styles.

Annette and Anri studied with reputable Spanish Dance Teachers, Jose and/ Helena Montoya.

Annette started teaching Spanish Dance with them, was part of the Montoya Dance Group and visited Spain to learn with the fundi’s of Spanish Dance.

Anri was nominated best student in South Africa the year she qualified as a Spanish Dance Teacher.
